ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
Demakes Enterprises cares about the environment and recognizes that concern should be an integral and fundamental part of business. We are aware of our effect on the environment and we continually seek to balance the needs of business goals with the need to protect and improve the local and global environment.
Demakes Enterprises is committed to minimizing the impact of our operations on the environment by means of a program of continuous improvement. In particular we:
· Comply with all applicable laws and regulations and implement programs and procedures to assure compliance.
· Seek to minimize consumption of disposable materials in all operations, reuse rather than dispose whenever possible actively participate in recycling and purchase whenever possible recycled materials.
· Reduce the level of harmful emissions from our smokehouse by the use of liquid natural smoke rather than the burning of wood chips to minimize the environmental impact.
· Work closely with our customers and suppliers to minimize overall impact on the environment through the proper maintenance of our fleet of vehicles and the efficient scheduling of pick-ups and deliveries to reduce the consumption of fuel and emission levels.
· Have installed a wastewater separation system to reduce levels of TSS and BOD in our wastewater prior to discharge into the environment. This process is monitored by an independent environmental monitoring company.
· Recycle our inedible product through an approved rendering company.
· Include environmental issues in discussions with staff and in training programs and communicate and reinforce this policy throughout the Company.
